Sky Blue

The pool from which the clouds drink every day,
The treasure waiting to be uncovered,
As open as an honest field in May,
Open skies touching plains undiscovered.

The spectral plains from which all great minds think,
The hearts of lions calling to this place,
The chalice from which freed prisoners drink,
The finish line of a 10 mile race.

America is where it always rings,
The outstretched arms from lovers counting stars,
The desert plains and oceans beckoning,
Crying, ”Freedom! The land and sea are ours!”

But this poem seeks to personify
the image of freedom that never dies.
