Spring
The sun shines down like a smile of spring
The flutter of change and the butterflies’ wing
The whisper of wind signals a new day
The dark demon winter is far away
Hiding from sunlight that springtime has brought
Animals jump up from their hiding spot
Winter’s been conquered by sun splashed hours
By trees with leaves and opening flowers
By singing birds and dancing light
Winter’s been banished, cast out of sight
Spring will leave; yes we know it’s a bummer
But have no fear, for next comes the summer!
