Masquerade
I feel as though the weight of the world is on my shoulders
Everyday a constant struggle to be someone
The constant pressure to fit in so hard it smolders
A poor unsuspecting soul, a darkness that no one
Can break free from, praying for an escape
Why do we have these pressures to be someone we're not?
Being who we are takes the unveiling of a drape
Digging deep, searching for oneself, untying the knot
That holds untold secrets, insecurities.
Some hide rather than letting others see them
For who they are, hiding behind ambiguities
That prevent truthfulness, doubt stems
Out like a waterfall; ready to explode
It's only a matter of time before we implode.
