I don’t believe in fairy tales tonight
Why should I when all my dreams have faded?
I wished upon a star this past twilight
The absence of magic left me jaded
No castle stands above with me waiting
My dreams deceit kept making me believe
This hope recoiled like a sad fish bating
All of this I can no longer conceive
The tales I heard while I was growing old
Have been proven false beyond all woes’ doubt
Dreamers’ magic and I have lost our hold
My heart has moved on and I shall break out

But a new dream will hold a different fate,
It is the magic that I can’t escape

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem about a collection of different things. This sonnet is about waking up to reality; something that everyone has to go through multiple times in their lives. From their first break up to finding out fairy tales are very far fetched. It's about waking up and not being unrealistic anymore; but, knowing there is a type of magic that is inescapable: life's natural and beautiful course.
