Feeling Halfway
Feed me pain so massive I break,
love me like you have a time limit,
hold my hand until it is in pieces.
I have no time for feeling halfway,
if I must feel,
give me everything
you’ve got, all the violence in your
small body, all the love in your red
heart.
prove me wrong, even if the process
is bloody and you taste the stinging
copper of my syllables on your tongue.
if I do not tear when I laugh, my heart
was not set on it, so kiss me until my lips
are swelled to the brim, tell me your
list of flaws and I will retaliate with mine,
but be warned that though I spill and
I spill until my tongue snaps off,
my voice might shake and a word might
crack right down the middle, but I will give
it to you straight and I only hope that after
everything is said and done, you won’t hate
me with a passion so wild you run and forget
to turn back. — still, I would rather that than be bland.
