Gratitude
I apologized and you forgave me,
without any hesitation whatsoever
and I wasn’t really sure how to react,
even though I pretended I knew what to say,
and we said our “I love yous” and hung up,
but I was surprised and lost because,
how did I manage to struggle my way through
keeping you for so long?
How have I kept perfection’s fingers interlaced
with my own?
It doesn’t make any sense because all I’ve
ever known is forgiveness is unacceptable,
so when you let it slide within less than a second,
I couldn’t help but stammer a little
and clutch the phone tighter,
so I’m very grateful,
and that’s all I want you to know.
