The Boy Who Writes
Don't fall in love with a boy who writes.
He'll know exactly how to shape his phrases- mold his stories
so they awaken something in you.
His sentences will pluck at your heartstrings
and he'll turn you into a project,
scratch over and white out what he thinks should change,
and have the epilogue already arranged
in his head
hours before your first date.
Dont fall in love with a boy who writes,
he'll hear but never listen to what you say.
Use your 3 am confessions as character
development
and he'll always be prepared for the plot to fade
but you wont.
So covered in ink you'll soon forget what story was there
before you met.
And when he grows weary of editting your numerous faults,
When he loses inspiration for the girl he helped bring up,
he'll see your empty storyline as illogic
no longer someone so broken it's poetic.
So don't fall in love with a boy who writes
because he'll fall in love with the tale he told
and the block he overcame.
Because to him you've always been
just an idea
on a sleepless, begging page.
The night you met and he remembered the color of your eyes
as he began to write
the conclusion paragraph.
