never
have i felt the way
i did that weekend
the weekend i turned thirteen.

my best friend
by my side
for three days
laughing, smiling, careless

i wish i could say
it ended differently but
she went her way
and i went mine

never
will i forget that weekend
riding roller coasters and sitting by the pool
celebrating the weekend i turned thirteen
