When I met you, I was overjoyed. I took it,

With everything that I had.

Days turned into weeks

Weeks turned into months

And months that turned into years.

All that time and then nothing.

It was like being hit by freight train

There was no stopping the impact.

I hated you,

The way you acted

The way your words slid off your tongue,

Slapping me in the face.

Thinking about how you would be better off

I would be better off.

My life was taken away,

But not yours.

Until you realized,

Until I realized,

The hatred wasn’t real.

Hatred was only the cover up, for how we really felt,

Hiding how my insides really yearned for you.

Twisting and pulling me apart,

Until I could admit it to myself.

I needed you,

Not in the sense that a child needs their blanket,

But the sense that

Days that turned into weeks

Weeks that turned into months

And months that turned into years

Were the only memories that keep me going,

And still keep me going, and always will.

You are the glue to my life

Holding all of the pieces together.

Without you there is no love and without love there is no life.
