Favorite Quote:
An old man told his grandson, "There is a fight between two wolves inside of us. One is bad-- it is lust, pried, and lies. The other is good-- love, caring and humility." The boy thought for a moment and asked, "Which one wins?" "The one you feed."

Snow falls on the window pane
in a flurry of water down the sink
and the ice cycles drip liquid luck
like tears that sparrows drink

The icy fingers of winter wind
slip through my hair like light
and rush through clothing cracks
like venom that sparrows drink

The snow drift standing
like waves of opaque glass
hides sunlight, sleek and bright
like oleander leaves that sparrow eat

And I stand in the shadow land
of winter, dull and new,
and consume it all,
like tears that sparrows drink.

this is based on my feelings toward the holiday season, as it has always been a time of loss for me and my family. i try to enjoy it, but writing positively about something that always gets under my skin is hard, so i did what was easy.
