The child looks into the coffin
And tears spill from her eyes.
How does this happen,
And why?

The child wants to touch,
But can't handle the chill
Of the skin that was warm
Before it took the pill.

The child begins to wail,
For this face is too strange
And yet too familiar to bear
Since suicide took away the rage.

This face was once full of life,
But the child watched it decay
As anger and sadness moved in
And could no longer be kept at bay.

The child is hushed
And hustled away
But she doesn't want to leave,
No, she wants to stay.

A child no longer, she looks on.
She has not been a child since
Suicide took this loving face away;
This is the death of innocence.
