You stumbled
Too slowly
Onto the couch.
A priest on fire,
You shuddered,
Shook, and gasped.
Your tears were
Snowflakes dressed
As worn ashes.
I stayed quiet,
Listening,
Relenting.
You were twelve
Again, wounded
For the first time.
