Tug of War
I hear my heart beating from down the stairs
But I’m too scared to follow it there
I hear the words it screams aloud
Telling me it’s too late to go back now
I feel it get hit, once, twice, and more
My only instinct is to lock the door
I hear the words it begs and pleads
And I begin shaking in the knees
My mind is still bitter at my heart’s last decision
And it’s determined to act with the utmost precision
The tug and the pull between the two
Leave me not knowing what to say to you
