Who I am...who am I?

Sometimes
I wonder...

Do you know the real me?
Or is all you ever see
The mirage I've created?
The careful facade?

So many times I hide
In the guise of the gir l you want me to be
I'm not that gi rl.

Or am I?
Fit yourself into a mold
And eventually you'll change to fit it
Then one day you take off the mask
And can't recognize your face.

I've worn so many masks
Am I living a lie?
Will you still accept me
If I stop feeding you the words
I know you want to hear?

Unsettled?
You should be
For all you know
You could be talking to a stranger.

Did you know?
I change myself to be more like you.
I bet you didn't. I work hard to keep it that way.
Little alterations...sew a seam here, drop the hem there...
A manikin, custom made.

I don't want to be a doll.
But how can you take me as I am
If I don't know who I am anymore?

This is really good. You put this feeling into words (which I sometimes have as well, but not to this extent).
