In the land where cultures melt, I stand

A firstborn Nigerian daughter caught in a whirlwind of demands,

In the 21st century's societal norms, where dreams and pressures collide,

I find myself lost in the maze where expectations lay.

Born under the gaze of skyscrapers and city lights,

Yet, cradled by the whispers of my mother's native tongue

I navigate through a labyrinth of dual existence,

Trying to connect heritage with the attraction of independence.

But being born under the weight of tradition's gaze,

This causes me to walk a tightrope where norms and aspirations battle,

In America's tapestry I will weave my story

But beneath the surface my struggles are still there.

The burden of expectations, a heavy cloak I wear,

Bound by the threads of duty, tangled in the way

For I am the firstborn the pacemaker of lineage,

I am expected to thrive to flourish to carve a path of excellence

And yet the pressure mounts a relentless storm,

As I strive to balance my tradition's norms

I'm caught between two worlds, I am dancing on the edge,

An influence to my brother, who looks up to me every day

Trying my hardest not to lead him the wrong way.

The weight of ambition, the whispers of doubt,

Echo through the chambers of my mind, as I journey around,

Each step a battle, each breath a sigh,

As I continue to navigate the maze where aspirations lie.

But during the chaos, a light shines flickers bright,

A glimmer of hope in the darkest times,

For I am resilient, I am strong,

In the face of adversity, I still stand.

So I rise above the storm I break free from the chains,

Embracing my journey, embracing the pain,

Even though the road may be steep, and the path unsteady,

I am the firstborn Nigerian daughter, and I persevere.
