'The poetry of Earth is never dead' - John Keats

Good things are lovely and safe

As life often is

They come here and there

Leaving a trail of breadcrumbs

On the road to happiness

Pretty things are well and good

A sky of stars

A shimmering golden sun

They welcome us with open arms

Shielding us from the world’s pain

Things

Aren’t

Always

How

They

Seem…

Good things are frail and fleeting

As life often is

They come and they go

But never pay any mind

To the trail of wreckage they leave behind

Broken people stumbling in the dark

Following a path that never was

Pretty things are not always good

A golden knife

A shimmering scarlet rain

They invite us in

Entice us with gold

Until we no longer know

What it means to say no

All these things

Though good at a glance

Can often mislead us

In a cruel, cruel dance
