The dream
I had a dream.
This dream was in the future after I graduated.
I was in the Bahamas for the weekend with my husband.
What was his name?
That's right.
The dream was a realistic dream.
I could feel, touch, see, smell, and taste everything.
But then there was a sloth.
The sloth said “Hello” and waved to me as it passed.
I chased it and asked, “What year is it Mr. Sloth?”.
He said, “It’s 2025, my dear.” Then walked away towards the summer sunset.
I turned away from the sloth and walked for what seemed like an eternity.
I walked through dunes and forests.
Prairies and cities.
I walked during the morning, afternoon, evening, and night.
When I got to my destination, there was a mirror.
I saw not what I saw just yesterday, but 80 years from now.
Me, at the age of 99.
She looked at me and I looked at her.
Her eyes saddened and then she spoke.
“Don’t waste your time as I did.”
She blew away with the wind till there was nothing but I standing.
I felt a tug on my dress.
It was me again, but this time she was 3.
“We are going on an adventure today!” She squealed.
“Are we now?” I giggled.
I looked at her again to see she was me now.
“Don’t you miss those days?” She said,
I blinked for a second and saw we had switched.
I was her and she was me.
I, at the age of 30, said, “Don’t waste your time.”
She then walked away in the opposite direction from where I was heading.
This time I wasn't walking, the floor was moving.
It was heading to light too bright for me to see past it.
Then I woke up.
I looked outside to see the sun rising and the birds flying.
I jumped up to look in the mirror to see me and only me.
“What a weird dream I had.” I sigh.
A weird Dream it was.
