It’s October again,
the fall leaves changing
from green to orange and yellow cover the ground
after being set free by the tree that raised them.

The strong trees shiver
with the crisp morning breeze
as it blows gently and
cools the world in front of you.

The mist
in the early morning air
captures those in its path and
lets them go with a subtle dampness.

Inside, the warm brown coffee
gives a warmth to the cold.
As you swallow, you feel the warmth travel
from the spot right where it hits your lips,
down to your throat,
through your chest,
and to your stomach.

The warmth resides here
in its final placement,
and you take another sip.

You sit by an open window
and sip your coffee or morning herbal tea,
in a sweater with a soft blanket
encircling your legs, taking in the coolness,
and watching as slight gusts of wind blow
just enough to make the fallen red and golden leaves
scrape softly against the cold, frosty road.

Your cozy clothes,
marked by the sweet recipes
and autumn sites of
beautiful foliage and pumpkins
show the warm feeling you get from this month.

You see pumpkins lining front porches
and trees changing colors
as the world comes alive in a way that
you do not see until this time.

You feel free,
you feel captivated,
you feel happy.

Jack-o-lanterns lay out visibly
from porch to porch,
autumn leaves surrounding,
and you see the spooky faces
as a sort of emblem or symbol
representing this fine, witching season
around you beginning.

This season of tourmaline and opal,
marigold and cosmos,
Libras and Scorpios alike
marks a time of year when
everyone waits for All Hallows Eve to come
so they can dress up and play pretend
and get candy and fun in this
one magical night.

But you know that the real magic,
the true magic is here
in each and every beautiful morning.

The real beauty of October is
in the colors seen everywhere you look,
the morning frost that nips at
your fingertips and nose when you step outside,
the warmth you get from your morning coffee,
and the raw world outside.

You take in a deep breath and
smell the sweet, fall air
noting the pleasant aroma of
the pine and pumpkin
that hits just right in this time of year.

Sweet chestnuts roast,
maple and caramel cover sweets galore,
oats fill a small platter on the coffee table
for a small taste of autumn available
to all who choose to join in
this time and feeling of greatness,
where almost anything is possible.

You place a cornucopia upon your tabletop
filled with fruit and flowers and corn,
symbolizing the lovely season
we have begun once again.

It is the harvest season, the time of love,
giving a feeling of hope and sweetness
as you enter the beginning of
the cold part of the year.

You wish to jump up into the blowing breeze
and become a part of it blowing freely,
reaching places you never could have dreamed of,
flowing through trees of
yellow, red, and orange and gold
if only just for one month.

The rising sun coming up
above the far-off horizon
brings a small bit of warmth
to the world that balances
but does not overpower
the cold.

This sunrise is beautiful and bright
with its own set of fall colors
that compliments the world you see
in ways that you only see this one time of the year, this one season and you know, deep in your touched soul;

-- It’s October again.
