"sometimes painful things can teach us lessons that we didn't think we needed to know."- anonymous

It is a creature

that lurks in the dark.

Yet also a flame

Ignited by a spark,

Of hurt, pain and sorrow too.

If only I had seen

The monster looked like me and you.

I cannot be blamed

For the mistakes of my past.

For the journey I have made

Is extensive and vast.

Rolling rivers and forests of green

They kept me alive

From things that cannot be seen.

The monster still roared

But my fears were not in sight.

As my hope of survival

Was starting to shine bright.

The sun on the horizon

And the wind in my hair

I breathed a sigh of relief

As I imagined what I would find there.

Maybe peace and calm

From the storms we face through life,

Or a place to rest

After this unforgiving strife.

"We will know one day"

I repeat to myself,

But don't push away

The monster itself.

There are many things to learn

And the monster teaches true,

Only its lessons

Are hard for me and you.

We tend to get scared

And coure in fear,

When we should be listening

For what we could hear.

Yes pain in sorrow hurt for a while

But it comes in handy in that final mile.

For we see past the tears

And notice through the years,

That we all have scars of different shapes and sizes,

Yet their meaning has its own set of prizes.

We learn to laugh

To cope with the pain

And rainbows only come after the rain.

So listen to the monster

that is roaring at you,

For his snarl

doesn't have to make you blue.
