The Words We Line With Fire

What have you done...?
Don’t you know that was it?
That you can’t take that back?
That it’ll never go away?
Those things you said...
They’re the words you never want to write down
The ones that you never want to remember
They’re the words that scare you
The ones that haunt you
And they will never leave.
The words we line with fire
Are lit with murderous intent
And though they be but only words...
Their ghostly flame lingers on
And even today can I feel their singe
