Marathon
School is a marathon.
Happy and anxious at the start.
The year starts and you’re flying, passing every test with ease.
The farther you run you realize you can’t keep this pace.
As the race goes on you start to tire and grades get worse.
Just trying to coast and get by.
Finally comes the end, with a last sudden burst of energy to get finals done.
Cross the finish line, summer break has begun
Resting for that next marathon to begin.
