Valentine's Hopes
She smiles at the beauty before her
At soft curls resting easily
Two steps up for the normal
At the flowing dress with the heart cut back
The same color as Valentines love
She finds hope in the preparations
In the box of sweet chocolate
Curved into a heart shape
In a note written with humorous intentions
Bright and unplanned
She feels love in the surrounding ways
Through the exchange of roses
Floral and ever present
Through teddy bears half her size
Sparkling red bows around their necks
She spills tears by night
The heart shaped box discarded
Alone in the corner of her bed
The bright note now dark in her mind
Rejected in one singular glance
