The Storm
As the thunder rips the sky
I hear her cry.
As her tears hit the roof all
I can do is wait for her to gasp for air.
Suddenly the sky is lit
up with the beautiful horror that
burns her.
The clouds become very remote,
the pain is too much,
she can no longer bear it.
As she whimpers and sighs
I pray that she will make it through this,
hoping against all odds
that this storm will not be her last.
The tree bow down
in sudden devestation,
their wisdom allowing them to see
that the end is very near.
She will not see the stars when the clouds leave.
She is at the edge
and she knows that there isn't much
time left.
She cries softly for all the moments
that she has been robbed of,
all the precious breaths
of those irreplacable to her.
In that moment she surrenders,
knowing that this is the end.
She still cries out.
The wind echoes her shrieking sorrow.
The universe knows that she has given in
and yet they do not sit idley by.
They rant and rage at the injustice
being done to someone
so young and injured.
They think of all of her
beauty and hope,
now marred by the treachery of
the one closest to her,
her storm.
One must think that no one will
ever survive the heartbreak
that has been dealt to her.
The storm realizes what it has done
and it understands it cannot fix
the damage it has caused.
Despite the horror she has seen and been
inflicted, the sky weeps for her loss.
She tells the storm through the whispers
of the leaves
that it is forgiven and she knows that it was
wonderful.
With her last breath, she says
just one word.
The most powerful word in all the world.
Goodbye.
