The Essence of Tiaras
Perhaps a girl is not defined
By the tiara that she flaunts.
Her flowing gown and diamond jewels
Show just her satiated wants.
And is a youthful child
With but a plastic crown
Not every bit as happy
As one with great renown?
And if you’ve ever met
A young dress-up princess
You know she believes herself
Just as much an heiress.
But really don’t we all
Crown ourselves at times?
People do not like to wait
For someone else’s prize.
And while we all eventually
Leave behind our magic wands
We never stop believing
Our kingdom lies beyond.
So while there are some who try
To build their empire here
Others are quite satisfied
To let it just appear.
When you build your world
With the idea that you’re the queen
Does it really end up any less
Than what it would have been?
Is it not true that when we wake
To find our kingdom’s built itself
We all end up in the same place
Looking over wealth?
