The silence scares me because it reveals the truth
It weighs a thousand pounds and makes everyone feel uncouth
The blood pulsing in my ear is the only sound I hear
Except for the crickets chirping near
The silence tells so much
Like who your allies are and such
But if you can help it, silence should be filled with talking
Because there's nothing as painful as its deathly quiet mocking

I never want to be the one who has to sit there in the silence while everyone is waiting for me to say something or explain what just happened. awkward moments are never fun.

I like it, and you are right, awkward moments of silence are the worst. Good poem and it was gripping, too.

piercing! That's what I would say to describe this...your words and imagery are impactful...I guess that is another word I would use too, even though I do not think it is an actual word lol

Oh my god! That was awesome!! I totally understand! Except I always ruin awkward silences by laughing because I remembered something funny... ;]
