A Writer Is...
A million thoughts racing through my mind. Blood flow rushes to my hand as I reach for my pen. The pen touches the paper scratching away at the pale unlinked page. Inking the page with thoughts that you’re too afraid to share with the world. Hiding behind a piece of paper filled with hopes, dreams and goals.
Writing to escape the cruelty of society. The scars left from their judgment. The pen that guides you through the dark. Your pen Glides across the page spilling out all its ink. Leaving everything you could never say aloud. Your fears, your love, your losses or maybe even yourself.
The only thing you have left is an inked page and an empty pen. Letting all your thoughts out must feel good. You may not have anyone there for you but your pen and paper is something you use well. You never write to write. You write with a purpose. To express or to persuade. A writer is someone who writes from personal experience and makes other’s want to learn how to do the same.
A writer is someone who can express themselves through words on a page that was once blank but is not filled. To become a writer you will not want to write, you will face many obstacle’s that make a better writer. You’ll write even when you feel like there is no hope for you.
Even when you have nothing. You can lift your head and know you have yourself. To discover yourself through a paper, a speech a pen that inks your heart down putting it into words. Words that describe you, your life, what you’ve been through and what you still have to face.
I never understood why I write. Am I really expressing myself when I already have? Am I really showing what I’ve been through? What I go through? Or am I just going through the motions?
When I write I’m just putting paper to pen. My mind rattles while thoughts pass and go. My hand shakes in nervousness to write down what I really feel. My heart skips beats as I open my mouth to read my hidden feelings on the finished, inked page.
The words spilling out like a waterfall. Continuously and quickly. How did I ever have the courage to do such a thing? Once I had begun, I knew there was no stopping. Hiding behind a piece of paper? No more not now. Now I’m ready to take on the world.
To face those fears, losses and myself. To conquer something nobody though I would be able to do. This piece of paper has made me stronger and helped me rise to new heights.
