Slash by Slash
Growing up wasn’t very easy for Slash from Guns n Roses fame. Before he became a famous guitarist with his signature Les Pauls and top hat, he was just the highly ambitious Saul Hudson.
Slash was born in Hampstead, England to an English father and an African American mother. He was raised in a town named Stoke-on-Trent. In his early childhood, Slash and his parents relocated to Los Angeles where Slash experienced many different things at a young age. His mother was a fashion designer who once had an affair with David Bowie, and his father was an artist who constantly had parties and social gatherings at their household.
The book shows a strong representation of his childhood, how he started playing guitar, and his relationships. After reading this autobiography, it has given a bigger understanding about the life of one of my idols. After listening to his amazing music for so long, I now know the back story to his life. The drugs, the alcohol, the sex, everything.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a strong passion for music as it shows the story of how he first interacted with music and when he first started playing guitar.
