Sports Great Dennis Rodman
The book I read was “Sports Great Dennis Rodman.” The author is Stew Thornley. The genre is African-American Literature. The copyright date is 1996.
I recommend this book to middle school students because it’s about one of the greatest basketball players of all time. The book is also quite entertaining and gives an inside look into the life of a celebrity athlete. It is an easy read that is hard to put down once you start reading it.
The book is entertaining because Dennis Rodman was an extremely outgoing and flamboyant athlete. Some examples of this are Dennis was found sleeping in his car outside of the stadium. Also Dennis dyed his hair many times and with many colors during his career. The book I read is all about an African-American person that overcomes many challenges to be one of the best basketball players of all time. The books morale is to never give up .Also the main character in the book Dennis Rodman, goes through some tough times but at the end it pays off. Some tough times in Dennis Rodman’s life were when he couldn’t go to college because of his grades. Another tough time in Dennis Rodman’s life was when one of his favorite coaches Chuck Daley wasn’t his coach. This hurt Rodman because he looked up to his coach and was close with him. In this book Dennis’s life is very interesting because he has to go through many obstacles to get to the top. I think the book I read would be a great read for middle school students.
