Gym Candy by Carl Duker
What would you do to be intensely strong fast? Award winning author Carl Duker tells an energetic story of a teenage named Mick Johnson who is strong-minded on one thing: Football.
While living in Seattle Washington Mick has star running back position in his schools team. Although that all could change when his team gets a new coach. His coach has had some complicated history with Micks father so he now treats Mick like dirt even do he is trying to do more than demanded on the field. That is just one thing that stands in Micks way of becoming a pro as competition for star running back comes to his team.
He then tries to get stronger so he can out win the competition and his dad recommends going Popeye’s, a community gym. Then Mick meets Peter, his trainer that gets him on Gym candy. Gym candy or steroids is a drug and is illegal to use in sports. However, they do not check you in high school for steroids. He gets bigger, stronger, faster and improves by cheating.
Gym candy will have you reading it for hours with all its anticipation and action will keep you up until you have finally reached its astonishing ending…
Gym candy is a remarkable book for any one especially any sports or football fans. Another grate recommended book is Payback time, also by Carl Duker and like Gym candy, I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
“Look, Mick,” he said, “you’re going to find out from somebody in the gym, so you might as well find out from me. Those supplements you`re taking. They might get you a little bigger, but just a little. If you`re after serious results there’s other stuff that produces better results much faster, stuff that a lot of guys in the gym use.” “What other stuff?” “You know what I`m talking about- gym candy.”
