The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen
In the fantasy The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen, you are welcomed into a magical yet somewhat realistic world. Letting your imagination run wild, you read as Emily and Julia experience paranormal events that lead them to believe Emily’s mother’s soul is lurking around them.
When both girls lose their parents in unfortunate events, they see that they are in fact very similar in ways that they wouldn’t have know, if it weren’t for Emily’s mother who tied them together. Even though Julia was bullied and tormented by Emily’s mother, she shows empathy towards Emily and tried to cure her loneliness by offering a friendship.
After noticing strange things that take place they become friends, like the wallpaper changing patterns, and lights going on and off, they begin to believe there is a spirit around them.
Though the story was exciting and had a well written story line, some of the paranormal events that took place were just too far fetched in some areas. These events seemed out of place at times considering the rest of the story line was very realistic. Despite this minor flaw, the novel was definitely intriguing and appealing for those who are interested in ghosts and spirits. It will surely have you frazzled the next time the lights flicker unexpectedly or when you feel an unwelcome chill in the room. The book is definitely an captivating story and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
