Procession of the Dead by Darren Shan
Procession of the Dead is the first book in “The City” Darren Shan’s new series. It is a very good book; however it is a little more mature than the rest of his work in that it includes a lot of violence, profanity, and a small amount of sexual content. If you are uncomfortable with that than you should definitely not read this book. The main character, Capac Rami, is about to start his new life with his uncle when you start the story. His uncle is a gangster and Capac wants to join him, all goes well for them for a while and then they are invited to a meeting with one of the more renowned ganglords. Turns out it was a trap set by “the Cardinal”, the crime lord of the city, who kills Capac’s uncle and recruits Capac because he saw him in a mysterious dream. Capac realizes that he can’t remember any of his past so he begins to discover things about the cardinal and his true past.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the Cirque Du Freak series. This book introduced me to a new level of suspense in books. This is a must read for anyone that enjoys a good fantasy or suspenseful read.
