I cannot even describe to you how this book held me and stayed with me long after I had finished reading it. The book is about Richard Papen, a teenager from California who moves to New England to attend Hampden College.

There he falls in with a group of five highly eccentric students who make him a part of their tight little clique. And yet, the closer he gets to them, the more he senses that something strange is going on, some great secret is being kept from him. Throughout the book, you are on edge, uneasy, and on the verge of some great discovery which continually eludes you. Deep, dark, intense words cannot convey the experience of reading this book.
