Author- Danielle Steel
Publisher - Corgi books
Genre - fiction, romance
Pages - 445
It is set in late 2007 when the epic strike of the writer's guild began in New York. The plot revolves around the lives and relationships of a family of women.
The reader can almost feel the breeze of the picturesque locales of the plot. Danielle Steel has a flair with language though simple, it is a nice read with idioms and phrases embedded throughout.
The reference to the Indian princess (page 92) might be flummoxing many. But it refers to a Red Indian princess who is believed to lead an independent and empowered lifestyle.
I believe that Danielle Steel is a feminist. She talks about the equality of women and their emotional requirements. For her people are actively or subconsciously searching for love and security. On my part, I would have preferred the use of the lady instead of female. In my opinion, the word female is used with respect to animals. For instance, in French, we say féminin/lady/feminine and not femelle.
As to who should read this book - people for whom romance is the primary instinct. I would regard it more as a time pass when I have nothing better to read. As my preference is more for realistic stuff rather than floating in a dreamland where everybody gets a picture-perfect spouse.
To sum it up this book is fit for all the masses. But personally, I would like to move towards more realistic and mind stimulating plots.
