War or Love

I lay here in the aftermath
of a war that was lost,
before i traveled its path.
There was only one cost:
my hope and my heart.
I was ambushed, and pushed back.
My allies took part
in the enemies' attack.
The romanticism of war is strong,
I longed for its kiss.
I realize I could have prevented this;
now this is where I belong:
without my ally
without her
