"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." -Eleanor Roosevelt

Why do you have to be so cruel to me?
I just want to play with all of my toys
Why do you have to tie me to the tree?
I really don't mean to make all that noise
I try to make it out of the front door
So you do not have to clean up my mess
Sadly, I failed you and got punished more
Every day I feel like you love me less
You then hauled me off like some worthless trash
My heart cried in the darkness of the night
A boy found me and took me in a flash
He cared for me and showed me a new sight
I have a new home now and it's a blast
I'm glad you are gone along with my past

The author's comments:
Many people do not realize how many animals are being abused and mistreated around the world. I wrote this poem because animals are not allowed to express their feelings the way humans can. It is unfair and cruel when an animal is being abused and cannot defend themselves. I feel like I am doing the animals a favor by making it aware of what an animal might feel or say while they are being treated unfairly. I hope my poem really hits deep for some people and makes them think twice before they are cruel to another animal. Bringing up animal abuse could make the difference of one less animal that dies from daily abuse.
