Dearly Beloved
Dearly Beloved, said the paper as he started to write.
Dearly Beloved, she began to read in the late night.
"Love can never be placed into words, I'm afraid.
Yet, I've come to send this letter to you, anyway."
Her heart raced, even though the letter was just beginning.
A misty breath exhaled between her lips, her head spinning.
He sent me a letter! How magnificently thoughtful!
Suddenly, the words at her tips began to feel magical.
His hand writing was so beautiful, and the letter was for her.
She was eager to read on, tell me everything, good Monsieur.
"Do you remember when we met, the name I called you?"
I do, how could I forget? Of course she knew.
Since the day they had met, he named her Lily.
After his favorite flower, which seemed a bit silly.
A little cliche, but it always made her smile.
Stopping to take a breath, she'd wait a little while.
It was nearly impossible to continue reading on.
At this rate, she wouldn't finish until dawn.
But she needed to know what this boy had written,
Already aware that this letter would leave her smitten.
"Remember how you called me angel all the time?"
Everyday she would,"Because you were mine."
She replied out loud to the letter, like he was truly here.
Tell me what all you have to say, Shakespeare.
"I'm not an artist with words", Oh yes you are.
"But the other night I wished upon a falling star.
Yet, that star isn't going to make my wish come true.
The answer to all of this lies only within you."
Me? What exactly is this letter's theme?
Dear Romeo, could you be more serene?
You've given me a choice only I can possess,
What is it that you have to confess?
Everything that followed expressed his total love.
The way his words flowed like the pieces he played of.
She couldn't help herself, and broke into tears.
Finally, someone had came to answer her prayers.
And yet, there was still more to read.
All this and so soon, it was hard to believe.
Letters kept coming, the envelope seemed bottomless.
Sprawled out across her bed, papers everywhere, a complete mess.
His lyrics, his songs, all of his poetry!
All his words were keys, setting her heart free.
Yes ,she would reply, as she thought to write.
I'll be yours forever, her fingers worked with delight.
The morning was approaching, the sun had started to rise.
Glaring through the window, it stuck her eyes.
However, this morning, she really didn't mind.
After all, isn't love supposed to be blind?
Dearly Beloved, said the paper as she started to write.
Dearly Beloved, he would read one late night.
The answer has always been yes, I love you dearly.
Until next time, Dear Angel, Sincerely...
