Hardships of Love

As the footsteps came near she crouched down even further,
She hoped and prayed that he didn't see her,
He had been so sweet and kind,
But then he became really blind,
Of her trying to be as loving and caring,
When he changed to be very cruel and daring,
She crouched down further so he couldn't see,
Who he thought was to be his bride-to-be,
He hurt her so fast, hard and unfair,
And he didn't even try to even care,
He thought he couldn't hide his feelings inside,
But then he turned and lied and lied,
Then came the day he threw all of it away,
And then tried to pretend that it was all okay,
Hearing his footsteps so close and near,
Brought her courage and not even a little fear,
She stood up to say what she wanted to say,
He tried to explain,
That is was all just a game,
Then she said that they were through,
He nodded and then turned away like nothing was new,
He hurt her so bad she wanted to cry,
Love is so cruel, she said, Why do I even try?

What inspired me to write this piece was seeing how so many girls got their hearts broken over a boy and wasn't able to express themselves.I feel that a lot of girls and boys know that they can relate to this poem.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
