What Not To Write A Sonnet About
You can't write a sonnet about writing sonnets, true.
Shakespeare wrote sonnets, they were about love.
You could write a sonnet about the sky so blue,
Or an object, like a table, or a white dove.
But not about writing a sonnet, no,
Not about its rhyme scheme and fourteen lines
Stick to writing about a camp fire's glow,
Or the sound of wind whistling through the pines.
Sonnet writing takes a lot of skill,
Thinking about every line and word,
Writing about writing? Don't try it if you will,
You'll end up messing up, looking like a nerd.
(Don't try writing about writing a sonnet, kid.
You just can't do it...oh wait, I just did.)
