Dear Love
O beautiful sentiment, you can rouse
Fires in the hearts of us mere mortals.
Consequently we may be moved t’espouse
Strange deeds, hoping that they ring immortal.
The flame you light is unknown to no one
And the zeal created ubiquitous.
Indeed, the passion that you have begun
Far and wide is deeply cherished by us.
Why then do you turn sour so easily?
Is it not your purpose bring us joy?
Sometimes it seems you serve hate well daily,
That you make joy just to see it destroyed.
Love, you are like a deadly poison:
You bait, nurse, and break us before you’re done.
