When Darkness Falls
When darkness falls in the middle of night,
Trees whisper softly, dancing to and fro,
Stars shine so brightly, as a guiding light,
The crickets sing their melody, so low.
The tide rolls in, smashing against the rocks,
The owls call mates with a splendid hoot,
The capital’s lights can be seen for blocks,
And the tourists pay a silent tribute.
Ghosts and ghouls and bogeymen stare in awe,
As the innate beauty slowly unveils,
Nothing in life could be so pure, so raw,
Quick! Drink it in before morning entails.
Small bursts of sunshine pierce the ink black sky
Be gone wonderful night. Goodbye. Goodbye.
