tire swing
The tire swing sways with the push of the wind
And yes I can’t help but think of my mortal sin
Remembrance of the hallucinations of the things all around
My feet lifted in and never touching the ground
I remember the times I drank that last sip
Or I escaped your grasp and my clothes would rip
I picture that need for a lost train of thought
But reality reached out and I guess I was caught
The tire swing spins me through the crisp air
And as I lose the world my heart starts a tear
And yet that little voice still rings in my ears
Telling me “hey come on back, just drink some cold beers”
I’ll hold my hand out and reject my old friend
Because I have confidence my strength will mend
The mirror reflects all I used to think was the best
But now I lay my head down, sober, and rest
