Summer Solstice
Sweet, sticky air.
Look around the cloudless sky.
The smell of taffy and laughter everywhere.
Hot dogs, soft drinks.
Sneaking out at night.
Whispering sweet things.
Wild hair,
Tame hearts.
Don’t know if our love will last.
Don’t remember when it starts.
Chlorine from the pool.
Cotton candy from the fair.
Making love like a fool;
Right now we just don’t care.
Hands running through my hair,
Never felt this good.
With one heart, we share.
Clinging onto that one last night;
Sharing that one last kiss with care.
