Don't Deserve a Fairy Tale
I thought you wanted to be with me,
Wanted to kiss me, catch me when I fell,
I thought you were one of those people
That wouldn’t try to make my life a living hell
I didn’t believe in love at first sight,
But by the end of the night, you were taking my breath away
And there was happiness through all the land
as you stroked my face and grabbed my hand
On that one glorious day
But you lead me on,
And now you’re gone,
And you're not comin’ back
I need to stop believin’ in fairy tales
Cause they’re never coming true
The world just don’t work like that
For me and not for you
Cause I’ve been searchin all my life
For that prince to take me from my strife
And oh, that ship has sailed
For the life of a fairy tale.
I thought I was stuck up there for hours,
so far up, high in a tower, what could I look forward to?
Then you, the prince, my prince, of course,
came along on your majestic horse, inviting me to come with you
I didn’t think bout our situation,
for in the whole human nation,
Two boys is usually rejected
The stories with the girl and boy
that make people cry and jump for joy,
are what Society accepted
And you lead me on,
And now you’re gone,
And you ain’t comin’ back
I need to stop believin’ in fairy tales
Cause they’re never coming true
The world just don’t work like that
For me and not for you
Cause I’ve been searchin all my life
For that prince to take me from my strife
And oh, that ship has sailed
For the life of a fairy tale.
I live on earth
Not in heaven
No castle for me but a house with a bed
And I need to realize
There’s more than just the sun that’s in the skies
Cause this ain’t perfect,
But man, it’s worth it
For me to try to understand that you’re not the only man…
I need to stop believin’ in fairy tales
Cause they’re never coming true
The world just don’t work like that
For me and not for you
Cause I’ve been searchin all my life
For that prince to take me from my strife
And oh, that ship has sailed
For the life of a fairy tale.
