"I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I intended to be. "

They have put the lion in a cage
And laughed at him,
Saying, “Look at him lying in the corner
Facing the wall,
It's like he's trying to pretend
He doesn't see us at all.”

And while they laugh he is dreaming
Of killing them all
And it's the only thing that draws his attention from
The degradation of being locked up
And put on display for entertainment.

They have put a predator in a cage
And poked him with a stick
To make him roar with rage
Until he didn't roar anymore,
And then they say, “Look how we have tamed the beast.
Look how we have taught him to behave.”

And while they laugh he is dreaming
Of killing them all,
And he can taste their blood in his mouth
And feel their flesh tear beneath his flexing claws.

“You'd never know he was the king of anything.”

Mountain Goat style. This song is based off of Psalm 137:3, as the name implies, out of the New American Standard bible: 'For there our captors demanded of us songs, And our tormentors mirth, saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion." '
