My Cage
Sixteen years it’s been
I sit here with just a pen
Just 2 years more
All that’s left now is one locked door
I wallow in despair
For just one second to repair
The pain inside that grows
It grows and kills all hope from head to toes
A heart so fragile
It cannot be kept in a cage this agile
The only thing within me
It is the key
It is a key to the door
The locked door not passed before
People pass by
Nothing noticed has gone awry
The cage appears to be save
But once inside…
