A Life Over To Soon
So sweet so bubbly
So pure was she,
But got bored
And wanted to die at sea
She that wanted less of life
And eager to be away from strife
Left behind a home and light
A mother, a friend, a daughter, a wife
So she stole a boat
On which she hoped it wouldn’t float
And made sure she left
Her jacket and coat
But when she got to sea
She looked directly at me
Thinking of all the places she’d rather be
And I knew she wanted to flee
Then I saw her shake head in worry & dread
And I saw her lips move as she slowly said
She wished she’d stay in bed
Then she fell overboard and I knew she was dead.
