before i learned to tie my shoe, i learned to smell the roses
before i learned to tie my shoe, i learned to smell the roses
before i said my first word, i found a friend in the sun
before i learned to write my name, i saw a dinosaur in the clouds
take me back to simpler times
mother takes care of us, daily, and asks for nothing in return
the waves, moon, and sun beck and call
the spirits from yesterday’s end emerge in the early morning
and disappear by breakfast
i yearn for the song of a blue jay
the temporary haven of a tree
the endless possibilities from the stars
and the performance of colors by the sun not once, but twice
isn’t it amazing
knowing every day, no matter what
you will wake up to mother’s
unconditional love?
