symphonic adieu
twist away from me
and you've never been closer.
we're connected by our palms
and i feel the sinking in your back
mirrored by the rising in my chest.
we stay together.
you turn to face me and we are more apart
a valley in the space on the bed between us
but our palms are still interlocked
and now our fragile eyes find each other.
yours aren't red and unfocused,
mine aren't turquoise and wet,
and with the best of ourselves laid out before each other,
the fragile eyes, the fragile best,
our palms reach against each other's.
we stay together.
shadows littered your doorstep
we crossed over before we met.
we stay together.
we found each other in your space
that i spent weeks looking for.
we stay together.
fear crawls into your bed and nips at our feet,
hand holding a portal to a foreign land,
your name is echoing against japan,
rattling between our palms until august greets us again.
this time together.
this symphonic adieu tugs you out of grip
and i am in your space
and you are in your space
yet we are not in the same space.
but we are together.
