Just a Number
In life I am just a number
I go out to eat
I am a table number
I go to the mall
I have a customer number
I arrive at the DMV
I get a number
Just like any other person
I am
Unseen
Unoticed
But I have a story
A story that is bigger than any other number
A story that would make people stop walking and listen
And still nobody listens to what what I have to say
It doesn’t matter that I had stage 4 cancer
And survived
It doesn’t matter that I was abused by my parents for years
But I am now adopted into a new family
Nothing matters because I am just a number.
