Flying
Nervous chills run through me.
My mind, hyper with excitement.
We climb off ground,
up in the air.
I feel my spirits lift
and my stomach plummet
I look out,
the sun,
just over the horizon.
It falls from a bright yellow
to an orangish pink.
I close my eyes,
only for a moment.
And open to a new world,
above ground,
parallel to the earth.
I stand up.
Walk over to the small plane’s door.
And step in line
to await either my death,
or a pleasant fall.
It’s my turn,
my instincts say no,
but my mind says yes.
I breath in,
and out.
The cool air blows my hair back.
My eyes open.
I see the ground below.
My eyes close once more,
and my future awaits...
